We recorded the second Sound of The Ladies Lounge on Sunday here in Crystal Palace – here’s me rocking out and looking soulful… Samantha Whates and Gavin Osborn were as brilliant as I’ve come to expect.
Gavin was performing songs from his new album, including his brand new single “Hello, My Name is Charlie”, which I would warmly encourage you to check out. So much to pick from for the videos. You lucky, lucky people.
Sam was doing some new material as well as some of her old favourites from the days when we’d hang out at The Slaughtered Lamb… ah, such simple times. It’s always a pleasure to hear one of the best singers on the circuit do her thing. And so much complexity and subtlety to her new tracks. What a treat.

David Bailey going for "Blue Steel"
Matt Kebbell sadly wasn’t able to make it - so the surprise turn came from the sublime David Bailey from The Title Sequence, performing their songs with naught but a classical guitar. The encore was an acoustic version of Kraftwerk’s “The Model” and stole the show with some excellent beatboxing*. You will probably be seeing them ALL OVER the shop because they’re bloody good.
And then we all went to Crystal Palace Park to watch the sun set over the dinosaurs. Thanks once again to Matt, Saul, Nathan, Will and Helen for making it all happen.
*if you hadn’t guessed, by me

Did Gavin Osborn do Left Side from My Right? Love that song so much.
PS. You’re allowed to beatbox in real life, but not in Answer Me This? Unfair.

No he didn’t do that one. Lots of great songs from the new album though. I haven’t listened to it yet but it promises to be a corker.

I accidently bought his old album twice on iTunes and ran out of credit to get the new one.
